DONNA: la donna cambia immagine

“Fashion, culture, aesthetics are evolving". With these words, Flavio Lucchini executive editor and Gisella Borioli chief editor gave birth to this magazine.
The title of the magazine Donna, the woman changes the image, refers to a magazine that wants to revolutionize the image and the communication of fashion itself. Gisella Borioli in her editorial explains why Donna was born and she speaks about the meaning and sense of fashion like a sociological and psychological phenomenon, citing two of the most important scholars in sociology and psychology: Gillo Dorfles and Marc Alain Descamps.

Fashion is modernity, progress, youth. It renews and directs towards the future.
(Marc Alain Descamps)

Never as in the period we are going through has the fashion phenomenon seemed so relevant.
(Gillo Dorfles)

Donna, therefore, was born to understand, to be witness of the time: a fashion magazine, which - as Lucchini writes in his editorial - does not want to show clothes just as they are, but a fashion magazine for understanding what they mean, why they are made in a certain way and why they change.
The collaborators are the names of journalism, together with intellectuals, sociologists, artists… the great names of photography, from Oliviero Toscani to Giovanni Gastel, Paolo Roversi, and then the models from Monica Bellucci to Isabella Rossellini.
Donna wants to tell fashion in a new way with an avant-garde cut… we cannot forget the famous "yellow pages", a yellow insert, forerunner of a fashion newspaper, where the economic and social side of fashion, facts, opinions, indiscretions of a sector that was growing and changing extremely rapidly, were told in the language of the investigative journalism. Moreover, it is right in the middle of the “yellow pages” that we find the column edited by Maria Pezzi, who for Donna - since 1984 and for almost a decade - has lent her pen, telling about fashion through her memories and interviews with the greats of fashion.
Donna was an innovative magazine, able to renew fashion publishing, becoming the most formidable antagonist of Vogue for at least a decade, witness and protagonist of the explosive Eighties, through all the protagonists, from fashion greats to new talents, enhancing Made in Italy and beyond.
